I graduated from the University of Michigan in 1973 with a Bachelor of General Studies degree and earned my law degree from Michigan State University School of Law in 1976. During law school, I gained practical experience by working at a prestigious personal injury and workers' compensation law firm, forgoing a law review appointment. I was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and the United States Federal Court in 1977.
I built my legal career as a trial attorney, specializing in personal injury and workers' compensation cases. In 1981, I established my own law office. My dedication and competence led to the highest rating for both competency and ethics from the Martindale-Hubbell attorney rating association.
Throughout my career, I achieved notable successes, including substantial verdicts in cases involving medical ethics, misdiagnosis, industrial injuries, and more. I also excelled in appellate work, representing clients before various courts, including the Michigan Court of Appeals, Michigan Supreme Court, and Sixth Circuit federal Court of Appeals.
I actively participated in alternative dispute resolution, served as an arbitrator, and completed facilitator training in Oakland County. I also contributed to legal education by serving as a Moot Court judge for the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association and Wayne State University Law School.
In addition to my legal work, I shared my expertise as a frequent guest on a radio show discussing workers' compensation and general negligence issues. My extensive legal career reflects a strong commitment to the practice of law and a history of achieving justice for my clients.
